The Hirer: The person who has booked and paid for the hire of the vehicle

Prices quoted include:
- Insurance for the first driver aged over 25
- Breakdown cover
- Full tank of diesel
- Mains Hook Up and adaptor
- All cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery
- Camping gas
Insurance is included in the hire charge for driving in the UK only. European insurance is available at a cost of £15 per day. Our insurance company may impose surcharges for certain medical conditions therefore you must inform us of any medical conditions you may have at the time of booking or prior to collection of the campervan or the insurance may be invalid.
There is a £750 insurance excess/damage deposit which must be paid for each hire period. This is a condition set out by our insurance company in the event of any damage to the vehicle or third party property. This must be paid by credit or debit card on the day of collection. This insurance excess will be fully refunded at the end of the hire period when the vehicle is returned in a clean, undamaged condition with a full tank of diesel fuel. TCampervans 2 Hire do not offer damage waiver and the £750 excess will be immediately forfeited should any damage occur.
VERY IMPORTANT: should any damages exceed the security deposit the hirer will be responsible for settling the additional costs in full.
Drivers are to be aged between 25 to 70 years old with a minimum of 4 years driving experience with a full UK driving licence for a manual vehicle. Younger or older drivers may possibly be allowed to drive but not without prior approval from our insurers and any additional premium being paid.
*Insurance loading. In some cases, Campervans 2 Hire will incur additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, more than 1 insurance claim or is in an occupation which is deemed high risk. These charges will be passed onto the customers.
**Campervans 2 Hire will supply full breakdown cover to cover any mechanical faults to the base chassis of the campervan. Any call out charges incurred through operator error, e.g. flat vehicle battery, wrong or insufficient fuel, lost keys or keys locked in campervan will be the responsibility of the hirer.
A charge will be made for any vehicles that are returned late or damaged. If vehicles are returned past the date and specified time, without prior written approval from Campervans 2 Hire, hirer’s render themselves liable to overtime charges of £50.00 an hour.
The insurance does not include the following & all costs are the responsibility of the hirer.
- Any deliberate or wilful act
- Putting incorrect fuel in the vehicle – our campervans run on diesel
- Windscreen/window damage
- Locking keys in vehicle
- If the hirer leaves the vehicle unlocked or fails to ensure keys are secure
- Internal damage or breakage
- Tyre damage or punctures
- Any damaged caused by animals
- Damage caused by cooking
- Damage caused by driving Campervan into low barrier/car park entrance. OUR CAMPERVANS REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 2M CLEARANCE
· Additional driver £5.00 per person per day – maximum 3 (25-70 years of age, clean driving licence, proof of ID). Details of additional drivers required in advance with no additional drivers being added on day of collection.
European cover £15 per day

- The licence must be unendorsed (speeding & parking offences may be accepted but must be declared). All drivers must be present and produce photo card license plus DVLA Licence Summary before hire can commence.If both parts cannot be produced then the vehicle will not be hired out.
- Age limits: 25 to 70 years (in exceptional circumstances this may be negotiable).
- Driver must have held a full valid UK licence for manual transmission for more than four years. Licence for automatic transmission acceptable only if automatic vehicle available.
- Details of additional drivers required in advance.
- Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g: speeding, parking fines etc), which are incurred during the period of hire. All such fines/penalties will be passed onto the hirer and are in no way the responsibility of Campervans 2 Hire.
- The hirer and any additional driver must provide 2 separate forms of identification, e.g. Council Tax Bill, Landline Phone Bill, Gas Bill, Electricity Bill, Bank Statement or Credit Card Bill plus a form of photo identity e.g. passport if the driver does not hold a photocard driving licence. Campervans 2 Hire reserve the right to take and hold copies of these documents. If additional proof of address or photo identity is not produced then the campervan will not be released and the full cost of hire will be forfeited.
- Drivers must not have been at any time convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or penalty points imposed. Parking and not more than two speeding offences in the past 3 years may be accepted by insurers but must be declared. “Spent” Convictions, covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 may be disregarded.
- Drivers who meet any of the following criteria cannot be insured:
- Persons who have any mental or physical defect or infirmity or suffers fits, diabetes or any heart complaint.
- Persons who have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their motor insurance cancelled by any Motor Insurer.
- Persons engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or professional sports persons.
- Persons connected with racing of any sort including motor racing and horse racing.
- Undergraduates and/or students under 25 years of age.
- Persons who, whilst driving, have been involved in more than one accident during the past 3 years.
- Foreign service personnel other than persons born in the United Kingdom.
Should the driver not disclose that they fulfil one of the above occupations even in a part time capacity, this will render the agreement as void and the hirer will be fully liable. Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g. parking tickets, congestion charges, LEZ charges, speeding fines etc) which are incurred during the period of hire.
Campervans 2 Hire cannot insure any driver with no fixed abode.
The occupation of the hirer plus any additional drivers MUST BE DECLARED AT THE TIME OF HIRE
Parking: Campervans 2 Hire provide free, off road parking for customers vehicles. Whilst every effort is made to keep vehicles safe, Campervans 2 Hire cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to customers vehicles.
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 8am – 4pm
Last collection time for all vehicles is 1 hour prior to closing; it typically takes 1 hour to hand over the vehicle.
The campervan will be available for collection from 2pm on the day of commencement of hire. Please allow at least an hour for collection to enable us to complete all necessary paperwork and to demonstrate how to use all the features of the campervan. The campervan must be returned by 11am at the latest on the final day of hire. Alternative times for collection and return may possibly be available on request. –
Availability is on a request and confirmation basis at the time of your reservation. A reservation is only binding once the booking is confirmed by Campervans 2 Hire by email. A non refundable deposit of 25% of the hire fee is payable to secure your booking. On receipt of your deposit a final invoice will be issued which is payable in full 6 weeks prior to the commencement date of hire. Payment is taken over the phone via credit card or debit card or via a BACS payment. The £750 insurance excess/damage deposit is payable on the day of collection. If payment is not made in full the campervan will not be released and there will be no refund of deposit.
Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed.
More than 6 weeks before: Booking deposit
6 weeks – 2 weeks: 50% of total hire charge
2 weeks – no show: 100% of total hire charge
Personal Travel Insurance:
It is the hirer’s responsibility to provide their own insurance to cover personal items and belongings and personal injury in the event of an accident.
Campervans 2 Hire operate a strictly enforced NO SMOKING policy in all vehicles. The full security deposit will be forfeited if smoking has taken place in the vehicle to allow for additional Valeting and or Upholstery cleaning/replacing fees.
Sorry but we now have a strict no pets policy. The full security deposit will be forfeited if pets are taken into our vehicles
In the unusual the event of the van breaking down and being un-driveable, please contact us immediately on the telephone numbers provided and displayed in the User Manual (office hours and out of hours emergency mobile number) and we will advise you with regard to contacting Volkswagen Assistance or the relevant breakdown company, who will either fix the vehicle or take you back to your base and then recovery back to us at the end of your hire period. The contact numbers for Volkswagen Assistance or breakdown company are clearly shown within the User Manual and will be pointed out to you on handover. We will do all we can to help you get back on the road as soon as possible. In the case of you being without the van you will be refunded on a pro-rata basis.
Delivery and Return of the Vehicle:
The Hirer acknowledges having received the Vehicle in a clean condition, in sound working order and with a full diesel fuel tank and 1 gas bottle plus 1 full spare gas bottle. The Hirer will return the vehicle in a clean condition with a full diesel fuel tank, on the return date and time set out under the heading “Return date and time” on the Rental Agreement Form. The Hirer acknowledges that Campervans 2 Hire will not refund any monies, nor have any obligation to provide a replacement vehicle, if the Vehicle is returned before the completion of the hire period. If the Hirer ceases to have the use of the Vehicle prior to the return date for any reason e.g. accident or theft, we may refund on a pro-rata basis for the missing days.
Rental and Other Charges:
The Hirer will pay Campervans 2 Hire the following:
All rental charges, the Security Deposit, a cleaning fee of £100.00 if the Vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition, a cleaning fee of £75 if a Porta Potti which has been hired is not returned emptied and in a clean condition and the cost of any damage to the Vehicle or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance cover. All government fees and duties etc; all parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the Vehicle; any associated administration costs incurred in relation to the Vehicle during the Rental Period; any other fees or charges payable by the Hirer pursuant to this Agreement. This includes any costs incurred by Campervans 2 Hire as a result of any breach by the Hirer of the terms of this Agreement. There will be a daily rental rate of £100 per day for the period the Vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs. The cost of recovering a Vehicle that has become bogged. Fuel surcharge of £2.00 per litre plus £25 should the vehicle be returned without a full diesel fuel tank.
IMPORTANT: THERE WILL BE A LATE CHARGE FEE OF £100 PER HOUR SHOULD THE VEHICLE BE RETURNED AFTER THE AGREED TIME AS STATED ON THE RENTAL AGREEMENT
In the case of Gross Negligence, Campervans 2 Hire reserves the right to recover full costs in order to return the campervan to the state in which it was handed over.
Errors in Rental Charges: Total charges as set out therein are not final. You agree to pay any shortfall in charges to Campervans 2 Hire and you will receive a refund for any overcharge acknowledged by Campervans 2 Hire.
All Vehicles may only be driven on sealed / bitumen roads / camp sites. Campervans 2 Hire reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or any other reasonable cause.
Use of the Vehicle:
The Vehicle is not to be:- driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner; used in a manner which could cause damage; driven in a prohibited area or in an area other than the areas indicated to me by Campervans 2 Hire; driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law; left open whilst the vehicle is unoccupied; left with the ignition key in the vehicle while it is unoccupied; driven by persons under the age of 25 years or over the age of 76 or who are not authorised by law to drive the Vehicle or named in the agreement; damaged by submersion in water; put into contact with salt water; used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest; used to tow any vehicle (including caravan) or trailer; used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward; used to carry more than 3 or 4 passengers (depending on the conversion) plus the driver; used to carry volatile liquids, gases (other than the 2 butane gas cylinders provided), explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material; or otherwise used in breach of the Hirers obligations under this Agreement.
Alterations to the Vehicle
The Hirer shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written consent of Campervans 2 Hire.
When the Vehicle is left unattended, the steering lock must always be applied and valuables concealed.
The Hirer shall take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Vehicle, including daily checks on oil and water levels, and tyres and batteries. Campervans 2 Hire will reimburse the Hirer for expenditure up to £50.00 reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the engine of the Vehicle, provided that the Hirer produces relevant receipts at the end of the hire period and has received the prior consent of Campervans 2 Hire, and that the damage is not due to any fault or breach of this agreement by the Hirer.
Responsibility if an accident occurs:
In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, the Hirer will notify Campervans 2 Hire within 12hrs of the event happening, obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses along with as many photographs as possible, and report the event to the nearest police station. The Hirer undertakes to assist Campervans 2 Hire in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and photographic evidence and attending Court to give evidence. No admission of liability to other parties, settlement offers or other like offers must be made. The excess or other amount due by the hirer of any damage arising fro an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the completion of the rental period, regardless of which party is at fault. No security deposit or insurance excess will be refunded until claim is settled.
Terminating the Agreement:
The Hirer acknowledges that Campervans 2 Hire may terminate this Agreement and repossess the Vehicle at any time, without notification to the Hirer, and that the Hirer will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Vehicle, including towing charges if the Hirer is in breach of any term of this Agreement, has obtained the Vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation, any statement, representation or warranty made by the Hirer in respect of yourself or additional drivers is incorrect, the Vehicle appears to be abandoned, the Vehicle is not returned on the agreed return date or Campervans 2 Hire reasonably believes that the Vehicle will not be returned on the agreed return date, Campervans 2 Hire considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the Vehicle is endangered. In the event of such termination or repossession, the Hirer has no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit.
Change of Vehicle:
Campervans 2 Hire reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute a comparable or similar Vehicle for the Vehicle hired. Campervans 2 Hire will make every effort to ensure that the reserved Campervan is available for you at the correct time. If, due to circumstances beyond our control, this is not possible and if an alternative or acceptable Campervan is not available our liability is limited to the refunds of all monies paid by you.
Release and indemnity of Campervans 2 Hire:
Subject to its obligation to deliver the Vehicle or an appropriate substitute vehicle, the Hirer releases Campervans 2 Hire, its employees and agents, from any liability to the Hirer (regardless of who is at fault) for any loss or damage incurred by the Hirer by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to any loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Vehicle being unsuitable for my purpose, any loss or damage to any property left in or on the Vehicle, in any service vehicle or on any Campervans 2 Hire premises or recovered or handled by Campervans 2 Hire. Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with Campervans 2 hire, the Hirer hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified Campervans 2 hire, its employees and agents against any claims, demands and expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of my use and/or possession of the Vehicle.
To fulfill this contract/agreement placed with us, including but not limited to campervan hire and production of the Rental Agreement. Your personal data including copies of all identification documents provided and all data entered in the Rental Agreement will be retained for 7 years for the purpose of, but not limited to the defense of any legal claim(s).
To fulfill our legal requirements as a vehicle rental company, we will not transfer your personal data to any third party unless:
It is for on road vehicle assistance for example vehicle recovery/breakdown providers and repair workshops
It is to our Insurers
It is to the Police, local authorities, councils or DVLA if we suspect or are notified that a road traffic offence/contravention has occurred
It is to local authorities, councils and private parking companies if we suspect or are notified that you breached private parking terms and conditions, dart and congestion charges
To insurance companies if we suspect or are notified of an incident with a third party
It is to the Police, DVLA and Customs and Port authorities if we suspect or are alerted to criminal activity
Our bank or merchant provider in line with transactional processing
You are in breach of our agreement in which case we may notify the BVRLA’s RISC database, police, our solicitors, debt collection agencies, credit reference agencies and any other relevant organisations
The third party is our subcontractor or a member of our companies, who is processing personal data on our behalf securely and in accordance with our instructions
It is between software systems that we use for the purpose of our business as a vehicle rental company
It is for feedback on our products and services provided
You have submitted a photo into a competition that we have run. By entering our competition you agree to the photo(s) you submit being posted to our website facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest and other social media sites. We may also use it for posters and advertising purposes
It is otherwise authorised under the Data Protection Act
We may use your personal information for marketing purposes and to keep you informed by post, telephone, sms, email or other electronic means about product and services which may be of interest to you. If at any point you would like to stop receiving information from us, you can send an email to email@example.com and we will remove your name from the marketing database.
We will not store any of your financial details, i.e. credit or debit card details.
You agree that if you break the terms of this agreement we can pass your personal information to any relevant organisation. We can also give this information to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), which can share your personal informatiion with is members to prevent crime and protect their assets, as allowed under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Title to Vehicle:
The Hirer acknowledges that Campervans 2 Hire retains title to the Vehicle and that the Hirer possess the goods as a mere bailee only and do not have any right to pledge Campervans 2 Hire’s credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so and shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.
Any changes to this agreement must be in writing and must be signed on behalf of Campervans 2 Hire and by the Hirer.
This agreement shall be governed by English Law.
This agreement constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. Campervans 2 Hire reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice.
